Make waves,
Not Waste
Making Waves Coalition aims to shine light on environmental issues while creating meaningful connections to nature. Through community and collective action, we hope to inspire individuals to build a more sustainable and mindful future for our planet.
Want to make waves with us?
βThe more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction.β
A Healthy Ocean is a Healthy You.
Did you know 70% of the oxygen we breathe is from the ocean? Thatβs two out of every three breaths we take! The ocean allows our Earth to sustain all life, from tiny phytoplankton to humankind. Polluted oceans cause harm to all life on Earth, and we believe that advocating for a healthy planet involves advocating for healthy people too.
The New Jersey Microplastic Map
The data displayed is part of a Community Science Program developed by Making Waves Coalition (formerly Plastic Wave Project), Save Coastal Wildlife, & Save Barnegat Bay.
Volunteers across the New Jersey coast joined forces to uncover a tiny yet growing threat- microplastics. This map shares the results of their hard work - highlighting the power of community science and inspiring future action to protect our coastal ecosystems.
We will update the map with new data as the program continues. The data is open for public use. Please reach out if you would like more information.
